Bringing over 15 years surf instructing experience, coach Youness helps you feel safe and empowered on the waves.
If you’ve never surfed before, we promise you’ll be standing on your board riding waves by the end of the week.

Psycho-Education Workshops
Led by our clinical director, Josh, you’ll learn how your brain works on trauma, resilience, burnout, relationships and more.

Group EMDR Therapy

EMDR Therapy - How it works

1. Identify and Target
We begin by working with you to identify the specific memories, emotions, or patterns that are holding you back. This step helps to focus the therapy on what matters most to you.

2. Process with Bilateral Stimulation
Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, we help you safely revisit and reprocess distressing experiences. This reduces their emotional intensity and allows for healthier perspectives to emerge.

3. Rewire and Rebuild
EMDR supports your brain in “unsticking” from trauma, rewiring how you perceive and respond to past experiences. This helps transform negative thought patterns into empowering beliefs.

4. Move Forward with Clarity
Once the processing phase is complete, we focus on equipping you with tools to maintain balance and build resilience. You’ll leave with practical strategies to navigate life with greater ease and confidence.

I'd found it difficult to return to 'work mode' in a professional role, after major surgery resulted in me experiencing medical trauma and later PTSD diagnosis.
Physically, my surgery had 'fixed' the problem but emotionally, it was another story; I realised I was highly reactive to the normal day to day stresses of life, snappy and irritable with my teenage daughter and generally not in a very happy place. Struggling to maintain concentration and focus whenever I tried to do anything, lacking in motivation and drive, sleeping difficulties, generally feeling depleted and lacking resilience.
In one 15 minute zoom call with Josh, I felt heard, understood, inspired and hopeful. I booked on, booked a flight and then thought 'OMG what have I done?!' - how can I cancel?... I had a few reassuring emails with Josh and somehow got myself to the airport. On landing in Agadir, I literally didn't have to think about anything else, everything was taken care of. A friendly, smiley face holding up a board with my name greeted me. I felt like I could breathe free-er even then, as he took all my bags off me.
The retreat involved a mixture of therapeutic group activities, personal reflection, surfing, yoga, and psycho-education. The other participants were an amazing bunch, ranging in age from 20's to 50's. I literally felt like I belonged in this eclectic mix of strangers from day 1. Something to do with the whole 'vibe' of the place encouraged me to relax, breathe and 'be'. Although there was also a lot of 'doing' with the surfing and the yoga, it helped shut my brain up for probably the 1st time in years.
The whole team of professionals delivering the retreat are second to none, genuinely; kind, supportive, sensitive and friendly. All the activities, from surfing to yoga to groupwork were all delivered in an inclusive, easy-going style, participation optional never compulsory, encouraged rather than dictated.
I felt like I had a 'professional understanding' of trauma, but the work in 1 week at Resurface helped me understand my own lived experience with a whole new understanding, empathy and deep level of compassion for myself. I've done quite a bit of 'personal development' work over the years and Resurface tops them all to be honest. I'm relieved, feel like I have had a weight lifted and have started to look at the future with optimism and hope again, rather than fear and dread.
The Riad is beautiful, comfy, clean and the food is plentiful and delicious. They were able to cater for my special diet. Staff are friendly and helpful. Coffee machine for all day self service was appreciated.
It also has a fab Hammam on site where on the last day, I emerged scrubbed and fresh, Insides and outsides matching ;)

As someone who works in the retreat industry, I've worked with a number of different facilitators and retreat hosts. I can hands down say that Josh is one of the best facilitators I've had the pleasure of working with.
His Resurface Method is exceptional. The combination of a science based approach + physical activities is something I've never seen at a retreat, and I've never seen an approach so effective.
Josh brings something to the retreat industry that isn't present anywhere else. Many retreats include practices like yoga, NSDR and others for the sake of including them. Maybe because they're trendy and retreat hosts know that people enjoy them.
However Josh cuts out all the fluff, and with his knowledge and evidence based approach, he not only guides you through healing practices, but explains the reason behind it all, and embodies this calm assurance which helps you trust and fully immerse yourself into the retreat - and reap the full benefits.

What truly astounded me was the profound insight and clarity I achieved regarding a work project, an outcome I hadn't anticipated but am immensely grateful for. This retreat not only saved me from a year of unnecessary stress and potential financial loss but also provided a fun yet challenging environment where I met incredible people.

Group leader Josh is a strict but kindly nurse, giving us clearly defined boundaries in which to operate; which makes the therapy feel safe, secure, nourishing and holistic. On the final day when asked the daily question of "how do you feel?", the answers were all the same: calm, relaxed and happy. All left feeling positive for the future, I certainly did, and in the few days back home I can feel I am already thriving.
Both the yoga and surfing were way out of my comfort zone, but I was determined to do every session and I'm so glad I did. My flexibility has greatly improved, and I stood up on the board many times and caught a 15 second wave at the very last moment - a huge thrill and rush.
